Jean-Marc Roulot
2015Puligny-Montrachet “Les Caillerets”1er Cru White barrel
Score: 90-92
Tasted: Jun 11, 2017
Drink: 2022+
Issue: 67
Producer note: Jean-Marc Roulot has begun a small négociant operation where he will make small purchases exclusively in the form of fruit rather than must. Please see directly above for his thoughts on the 2015 vintage.
Tasting note: Reduction currently dominates the underlying fruit though there is good verve and reasonably good freshness to the rich and surprisingly full-bodied flavors that brim with both dry extract and minerality before concluding in a moderately dry lemon zest-inflected finish. What this is not at present is especially complex though the underlying material appears to be present such that more depth should develop and as such my predicted range assumes that will occur.
